This article talk about communication of unhealthy products of fast food companies.
Study of this article, conducted by the Yale Rudd
Center, shows that target of the
communication of fast food companies are childrens. Indeed, childrens are easy
targets because they are vulnerable.
In 2012 the fast food industry spent $4.6 billion to
advertise mostly unhealthy products, and children and teens remained key
audiences.
The Yale Rudd Center fights against malnutrition and
obesity, and a report “Fast Food FACTS 2013” who is a follow-up to a report
released in 2010 shows that there were some improvements but not good enough
for decrease the unhealthy fast food consumption by young people.
On the other side the fast food marketing via social media
and mobile devices — media that are popular with teens — grew exponentially.
Jennifer Harris, the Rudd Center’s director and lead author
of the report declares that advantage of young people’s vulnerability to
marketing makes tougher for parents to raise healthy children.
My point of view:
I think that the fast food companies intensive communication does not impact on good or bad alimentation of childrens. Indeed all childrens like to eat the food of fast-food but this doesn't mean they are unhealthy. Firstly, they don't eat all the time in a fast-food and secondly, at their home they can to eat balanced.
